Mary sings "I Do Not Belong" after hearing Jesus speak at the Sermon on the Mount, in the beginning of her story. Amazed and deeply moved, she wonders how anyone would be so good to give her kindness, compassion, and mercy.

"I Do Not Belong"

Who could be so good to bless the meek,

the sad and the sorrowful,

the suffering and the weak?

Who could be so good to love the poor,

the broken and the lowly

my own heart would ignore?

CHORUS

This is not for me, it is folly to imagine

He would give me kindness and compassion.

He would discover all the things I've ever done wrong,

I am not good enough,

I do not belong.

VERSE 2

How can He say "Come to Me,

your sings are forgiven,

My truth sets you free."

How can He be so merciful not to see

my transgressions, my idols, my history?

In the night sky, I am hidden,

forgotten, but not forbidden.

When the stars fade, I lose my disguise

and fly far away from His eyes.

CHORUS

This is not for me, it is folly to imagine

He would give me kindness and compassion.

He would discover all the things I've ever done wront

I am not good enough

I do not belong.
